Famous sons of Helsinki FINNTROLL are rightfully considered as one of the first and most original bands in the field of extreme metal to have combined folk sounds and instruments with the sheer force of black and death metal ever since „Midnattens Widunder“ came out in 1999. Their high-energy live shows added to their quick rise from underground rep to the worldwide fame the Finns enjoy today. The trolls recently excited with the hellish “Nifelvind” and can boast a fan base that just gets bigger and bigger with every release and every tour! Fans don`t have to fear a FINNTROLL-free year in 2012 either, because the band will appear as special guests on the HEIDENFEST tour and promise a party not soon to be forgotten!
EISREGEN (DE shows)
If there is one German band that has to be pointed out for their skillful and original combination of dark sounds, controversial air and unpredictability, it`s gotta be EISREGEN! The Thuringian act first made heads turn with their debut “Zerfall” (“Decay”) in 1998 – and they especially made some heads turn at the offices of German censorship where their name possesses quite some notoriety. But make no mistake: EISREGEN are so much more than just pure provocation and the band has gained an impressive fan base mostly due to its highly addictive brand of dark metal. Recently the Germans received much praise for their pitch black opus magnum “Rostrot” (“Rust-red”) which only continued to underline their exceptional status further. Count on them to lend an air of blood and decay to the HEIDENFEST line up 2012 where they will appear as special guests in Germany…
ARKONA (NL show)
The heathen zars of ARKONA – lead by the warlike frontwoman Masha, who always comes up with her epithet „Scream“ – rise their swords for a merciless pagan-assault. This spiritual legion serves the tastiest cocktail to all people, who want to get enraptured by a deeply cold freshness of Russian folk and powerful metal. Danceable pagan sounds and emotional black metallic melodies, like on their latest album „Slovo“. Feel the authentic, martial atmosphere on the extended show of PAGANFEST in the Netherlands.

SCAR OF THE SUN is a new and rapidly upcoming modern atmospheric metal band, that through a string of important live appearances and hard work in the studio, it is trying to leave its mark to the contemporary metal scene. The band managed to stir the interest of high-profile producer Rhys Fulber (PARADISE LOST, FEAR FACTORY, WALTARI, MOTLEY CRUE, MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD, MUDVAYNE, ROADRUNNER UNITED, NAILBOMB, P.O.D., ALICE COOPER etc) who agreed to collaborate with the band in co-producing and mixing their album. The sound of the album is multi-dimensional, blending many elements and influences; from gothic and doom atmospheres to modern electronic samples, from symphonic arrangements to the Swedish sound, with a touch of progressive structures and lots of heaviness and drama, all funneled through SCAR OF THE SUN´s musical concept.

SABATON – welcome to the SWEDISH EMPIRE tour!
What happened to Swedes SABATON in the past couple of years equals a victorious march: sold out shows, fantastic albums chock full of epic power metal, thrilled fans worldwide!!! On May 25th, another glorious chapter will be added to their story of success: “Carolus Rex” is the seventh SABATON studio album and boasts plenty of future metal anthems plus a sophisticated lyrical concept about the Swedish king Carl XII.

Dark times are coming…
The gaping, sinister and black abyss has many faces – just like its musical offspring…for the second time, the INTO DARKNESS tour will crawl upon Europe! In time for the dawning of black winter days, a live package will start hitting clubs November 9th and boasting a line up full of dark gems of the widest stylistic variety: industrial metal, gothic tunes, melancholic doom – this tour has it all!
Swedish legends PAIN featuring maestro Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY) will fill the headliner position, and this act can truly make the dead dance! Morbid lyrics meet stomping industrial beats and wicked metal guitars: a band to make every goth, EBM freak and metalhead in the audience happy with evergreens such as ‘Eleanor Rigby‘, ‘Follow Me‘ or ‘Shut Your Mouth‘! 2011 saw the release of “You Only Live Twice” and PAIN are renowned to spread a heavy and somber atmosphere live especially.
MOONSPELL from Portugal had their breakthrough in 1996 with “Irreligious” and on tour with TYPE O NEGATIVE. Now they`ll crown the INTO DARKNESS tour with sophistication, catchiness and sonar vastness! Call it gothic metal, call it avant-garde dark metal – MOONSPELL are guaranteed to make heads turn with their upcoming double release “Alpha Noir” and “Omega White”!
Some like to lump them into the doom category, but Finns SWALLOW THE SUN rather see themselves as blacksmiths of melancholic metal. Recently they issued “Emerald Forest And The Blackbird” and made it clear that they are unmatched with their concoction of slow motion sound, depressing melodies, nightmarish atmosphere and a bit of death metal heaviness. LAKE OF TEARS on the other hand seem to change styles with every album, but one thing remains the same: the sheer darkness lurking behind all the highly melodic compositions of the Swedish veterans. Grandiose albums like “Illwill” (2009) melt goth sounds with death metal and catchiness.

TROLLFEST – Previews artwork and tracklisting for upcoming album! Tour with Korpiklaani kicks off tomorrow, April 6!
Oslo’s self-styled True Norwegian Balkan Metallers TROLLFEST have today unveiled the artwork for their upcoming album “Brumlebassen”, which is due for release on NoiseArt Records in August of this year. Responsible once again for the amazing images that vividly depict the story of what will be the band’s fifth full-length album is Swedish cartoonist Jonas Darnell, who originally created the iconic metal duck from TROLLFEST’s “Villanden” album, and has worked with the band ever since. Terje Johnsen, who has been working on the design side of TROLLFEST’S releases since the “Brakebein “album, has once again teamed up with Darnell to produce the finished package.
Like all TROLLFEST’s albums, “Brumlebassen” tells a story about one of the characters that inhabit the fantastical universe created by the band. This time the story is about Brumlebassen the Bee Keeper, whose task it is to care for the bees and brew the Honey Mead that is much loved by the Trolls. Brumlebassen adores his bees so much that he would secretly like to become one of them himself and he is therefore depicted wearing a bee costume!

TROLLFEST, known for their exuberant stage performances which have won them myriads of fans wherever they play, recently announced that Tor Einar Rognhave (stage name St Beinhard) would be joining the band as a permanent member, to replace Per-Olav Wiik, whose personal commitments no longer allowed him the time needed for the extensive schedule of live appearances. Immediately after their show at Norway’s Inferno Festival the band set off for a 20-date European tour with KORPIKLAANI in April, followed by appearances at Extremefest in Austria, Germany and Switzerland in July, MetalCamp in Slovenia in August (where something special has been planned), and the Heidenfest Tour in Europe in October and November.
